As part of the global initiative to harmonize golf handicapping, the Kenya Golf Union rolled out the World Handicap System in March 2021. All affiliated golf clubs in Kenya now use WHS. One of the new changes that came with the rollout of WHS is the use of Handicap Indices. As this came after the last revision of golf rules that took effect in 2019, there has been concern about how to apply Rule 3.3b(4) which requires a player to indicate their correct handicap on their scorecard.
Most golf clubs in Kenya have redesigned their scorecards to provide for
spaces where players can enter their Handicap index, Course handicap
and/or Playing handicap, The Kenya Golf Union Policy is that a player is
required to:
- indicate their correct Handicap Index on the scorecard, or
- indicate their correct Course Handicap, or
- indicate their correct Playing Handicap
should a player indicate any of these, then the player has complied with the
requirements of Rule 3.3b(4).
