STEPHEN KIARO AND DAVID GITAO QUALIFY FOR THE WORD INTERNATIONAL PAIRS IN SPAIN

Stephen Kiaro of Kiambu Golf Club and David Gitao of Vet Lab Golf Club , qualify for the Word International Pairs in Spain after winning the 2022 International pairs qualifier held at Vet Lab Sports Club yesterday. The pair garnered 52 points ( 26 points 1st nine , 26 points 2nd nine) to claim the win.
Kenya will join 38 other countries participating in the World Final which will be played at La cala Golf Resort in Spain from 14th – 18th November 2022. Since the event will be played in Ryder Cup format, the organizers have invited past winners of Ryder Cup some of whom include; Manuel Pinero , Costantiono Rocca & Ronan Ratterly.
2021 Grand finale was not played due to the Covid 19 Travel restriction and therefore the qualifiers of last year will join this year’s winners. The six from last year are; Jay Varia & Gurtej Phull of Sigona Golf Club, Kush Aashit & Chand Shah of Sigona Golf Club & Julius Rono & Erick Mutai of Kericho Golf Club.
The event was introduced Kenya in 2019 where Kenya finished 4th in the Grand Finale held in Portugal.

The International Pairs is the World’s Largest Golf Tournament. Local, regional and national tournaments are organized and promoted by licensed partners around the globe.
The top national teams represent their country or territory at the World Final for the chance to be crowned World Champions.

Kenya Golf Team receives kits from NOCK ahead of Africa Championship

The National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK) Kenya Golf Team with playing kits ahead of All Africa Golf Team Championship.

The team is expected to travel on September 24 2022 to Egypt for the All Africa Golf Team Championship which will be held from 27 to 30 September 2022.

The team is Comprised of Dennis Maara of Limuru Country Club, John Lejirma of Kenya Railway Golf Club , Michael Karanga of Kiambu Golf Club and Adel Balala of Nyali Golf and Country Club.

The team has been training under the leadership of their team Coach John Van Liefland.

Speaking during the presentation , the Team Captain , Dennis Maara thanked NOCK for their Support and that they will do the best and make Kenya proud once again.

“we will make Kenya proud as a team as we promise to do our best. I also thank NOCK for the support they have offered to us,” Maara stated.

Adel Balala defends Kabete Open Championship title

Adel Balala of Nyali Golf and Country Club won the 2022 Kabete Open to defend the title yesterday. The 23-year-old Elite Golfer played 72, 78, 70= 220 gross – beating John Lejirma by three shots.

Adel has presented the Country in various international events such as the Region IV Golf Tournament held in Uganda and the Victoria Cup held end of July at Limuru Country Club.

This month, Adel will again participate in the All Africa Golf Team Championship scheduled for 25th – 30th September 2022 in Egypt. He will be joined by the team Captain Dennis Maara, John Lejirma, and Michael Karanga.

Kenya Junior Match Play Championship

Junior Golf Foundation has schedule for Kenya Junior Matchplay Championship to be held at Sigona Golf Club from 19th – 22nd September 2022.

The event is open to all juniors under the age of 21.

Kenya Team to All Africa Golf Championship

KENYA NATIONAL GOLF TEAM FOR ALL AFRICA GOLF TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
Dennis Maara will once again lead a team of four who will be participating in the upcoming All Africa Golf Team Championship to be held from 25th – 30th September 2022 in Egypt.
The team is comprised of Team Captain, Dennis Maara of Limuru Country Club, John Lejirma of Railway Golf Club , Adel Balala of Nyali Golf and Country Club and Michael Karanga of Kiambu Golf Club. This is the same team that participated and won the just Concluded Region IV and Victoria Cup events.
‘The team has been on a high following the previous wins in the Region IV and Victoria Cup. We are looking forward to taking the next assignment at AAGTC in Egypt. Playing against the top amateurs on the continent will be a true test of our ability as a team. Myself, Adel, Lejirma and Karanga have been working hard individually and we will be in training with our coach following the break after our recent success.’ Said Dennis Maara team Captain
The team, which will be led by Kenya Golf Union (KGU) chairman Njani Ndiritu, has been in training under national junior coach John van Liefland over the past three weeks ahead of the championship which has attracted a total of 15 countries some of which include South Africa, Uganda , Tanzania, Zambia, Morocco, Ghana, Tunisia, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Namibia , Malawi and the Seychelles among others.
‘The team has been on a high following the previous wins in the Region IV and Victoria Cup and we at the Union are certain that they will bring yet another trophy home’. Said Mr. Njani Ndiritu Chairman Kenya Golf Union.


About Africa Amateur Golf Team Championship
The Africa Amateur Golf Team Championship event remains one of the most prestigious golf competitions in Africa. It is held bi-annually and is played using the Eisenhower format and is a 72 hole stroke play played over three days. Each country is represented by a team of four players. The team score is obtained by adding the best three of the four gross scores. The trophy is awarded to the team with the lowest aggregate score.
